Course Details

This is the course you need to be able to work with children in those precious years when they are starting to engage with the world around them. It is widely known that this is an exceptional time in a child’s life and the right combination of encouragement and learning-through-play can set them up for a lifetime of confidence and a love of learning.

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121) prepares you for the role of educator in a range of early childhood settings and operates under the national and state legislative guidelines and regulations provided for education and care services.

Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121) is a nationally recognised qualification from the Community Services Training package for those who wish to commence a career in the early childhood sector. Employment opportunities for those completing the course include: working in a Long Day Care or Family Day Care service, in-home care, or as a nanny.

The course is made up of 17 units over a 12-18 month period. Students are working with textbooks (to be purchased), online resources, and ongoing student support from qualified trainers and assessors experienced in the field of early childhood. Students are required to complete 160 hours of practical experience in a registered early childhood education and care facility.

  • Smart and Skilled Funding

    Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. From 1 January 2015, Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:

    • An entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III.
    • Government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

    Smart and Skilled funding is available for eligible students in Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121) run by PEAK Training. Normally, this Certificate III costs $2590. With the Smart and Skilled funding, this course costs $1590.

  • Unique Student Identifier

    Every student with PEAK Training will need to create a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Or if you already have one, let us know on your enrolment form.

    Your USI will help keep your training records and results together in an online account controlled by you. By having a USI you will be able to access your training records and results (or transcript) whenever you need them. For example for a new employer. Your USI can be accessed online from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

    To obtain your USI, please go to www.usi.gov.au and create an account.

  • Credit Transfer

    PEAK Training recognises all Australian Qualifications Framework accreditations and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations.

    Recognition of prior learning may also be undertaken. Learners need to gather evidence of their prior learning and experience to enable PEAK Training to assess their compatibility with the current educational requirements.

Course Details

It brings in all of the elements of a Certificate to help you inspire and encourage children’s educational development, plus additional learning on leadership and management.

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50121) prepares students for the role of educator in a range of early childhood education settings, operating under the national and state legislative guidelines and regulations provided for education and care services. Educators help support the implementation of an approved learning framework to facilitate children’s wellbeing, learning, and development.

This is a nationally recognised qualification from the Community Services Training Package. It is a prerequisite for educators who wish to equip themselves for leadership and management positions within the early childhood sector, such as room leader, family day care service coordinator, and centre director.

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50121) contains 15 units studied over a maximum period of 24 months. Students are provided with textbooks, online resources and on-going student support from qualified trainers and assessors experienced in the early childhood field. Students are required to complete 280 hours of practical experience in a registered early childhood education and care facility.
