PEAK Training runs these courses via live and on-demand webinars several times a month, both in the daytime and evenings.

Course Details

The Education and Care Services National Regulations states persons in day-to-day charge and nominated supervisors are required to hold this unit to ensure the service is meeting section 162A of the Children (Education and Care Services) National Law. Participants who successfully complete the related assessment task will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for this unit. This course does not expire, however, it is recommended once the learner has achieved this unit of competency, they then complete a Refresher course every 12 months-24 months or whenever significant changes are made to the child protection law or reporting requirements. Participants in this course will learn the skills and knowledge required to support and protect children and young people who are at risk of harm or neglect. It focuses on understanding the responsibilities of a Mandatory Reporter in accordance with state legislative responsibilities and service policies and procedures. It also covers identifying the signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect, supporting child-focused practices to uphold the rights of the child, disclosure, and confidentiality. Students will also learn how to apply ethical and nurturing practices and observe professional boundaries to ensure child-safe environments. This course involves:  Complete the theory task (self-paced online), Workplace task – Completed in an Approved ECEC Service & signed by a Workplace Supervisor Please note: students are required to be working or volunteering in an organisation that is accessed by children or young people to complete the practical component successfully.
