With JobTrainer, you can prepare yourself to enter an in-demand industry like childcare with ease and the cost of upskilling doesn’t need to be a career roadblock. Training under JobTrainer is fee-free and fully funded by the NSW and Commonwealth governments*.

Yes, both accredited and short courses are eligible for Jobtrainer. Short courses can make up part of a variety of full accredited qualifications. By successfully completing short courses and continuing study into other courses, you could receive credit for those subjects.

What is JobTrainer?

JobTrainer is an employment support initiative, that offers financial relief for courses, both short and long, to job seekers (including individuals who are unemployed; individuals who are in receipt of income support payments) and employed people within childcare. Through this scheme and if deemed eligible, people are able to access financial support in specific full and part qualifications, it also provides wage subsidies for apprentices.

How much will it cost me?

It depends on which course you enrol in. Training under JobTrainer is fee-free and fully funded by the NSW and Commonwealth governments*. This means if you are eligible, you can study a short or long course fully funded by the NSW and Commonwealth governments – or at a heavily subsidised rate for apprentices.

How do I Apply?

The application process involves a few steps which we can help you with.

  1. Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria listed below.
  2. Select a course you are interested in applicable to JobTrainer.
  3. Fill out our JobTrainer enquiry form below OR call our PEAK team on 02 9779 9999 (press 1) to enrol.

JobTrainer courses started 16 September 2020, and new courses and start dates are being added all the time. Specific course starting dates and timings are listed on our PEAK course page.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for a fully subsidised place you must meet Smart and Skilled eligibility guidelines which are:

  • live or work in NSW
  • be an Australian Citizen, a permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder
  • have left school

AND meet one of the following criteria:

  • in receipt of a Commonwealth Government benefit, or
  • an unemployed person, or
  • people expected to become unemployed
  • a Veteran
  • a Veteran’s Recognised Partner (includes Spouse, Recognised Defacto or Ex-Spouse/Recognised Defacto)

Note: Eligibility is being extended for all students enrolling into targeted qualifications in 2022, aligned with the following priority skills:

  • training and assessment
  • aged care
  • digital skills
  • childcare, and
  • disability care
