Child Protection Accredited Training – CHCPRT025 Identify & Report Children & Young People at Risk

Note: This new course supersedes CHCPRT001 Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk and is a new non-equivalent Unit of Competency (UOC)

Persons in day-to-day charge, nominated supervisors and family day care coordinators are required by law to complete a child protection course to meet the requirements under Section 162A. This course is an approved child protection course required by Government protocol. It is best practice to complete the most current approved course for those persons in charge. All educators who work with children in an education and care service must be aware of child protection laws and reporting relevant to their state and service providers may like their educators to complete this course or a refresher course, which is recommended to be completed every 12-24 months.

This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to support and protect children and young people who are at risk of harm. Participants in this course will learn how to identify abuse and risk factors and what constitutes significant harm. They will gain an understanding about the responsibilities of their role as mandatory reporters including all reporting requirements. It also includes information about the Child-Safe Standards and environments.

This course is offered as self-paced online. Learners can enrol at any time and will have one month to complete the unit. It includes online reading, a theory and work-place based assessment.

Please note students are required to be working or volunteering in an organisation that is accessed by children or young people to complete the practical component successfully.
