Law and Regulations
In this session, we will delve into the critical topics of laws and regulations governing Family Day Care services. This session aims to equip you with the knowledge to understand the major laws and regulations, key terminology, and the components of the National Quality Framework. We’ll also explore the roles and responsibilities connected with Family Day Care services, the importance of compliance as an Approved Provider, and the consequences of non-compliance.
Conflict of Interest
In this session, we’ll explore the complex topic of conflicts of interest within FDC services. We’ll discuss how to identify, respond to, and manage conflicts of interest, especially in close-knit communities where social connections are common. You’ll learn about the different types of conflicts of interest, the importance of maintaining a service’s reputation, and the steps to take if you find yourself in a conflict of interest situation

This session focuses on structuring your management committee for optimal governance and efficiency. We’ll explore the various roles within a committee and discuss their specific responsibilities. Additionally, we’ll delve into the importance of having a balanced mix of skills and perspectives to ensure the smooth operation of your Family Day Care service.

The ‘Easy Ways to Promote Your FDC’ resource booklets and accompanying marketing collateral are to assist NSWFDCA member services in marketing themselves and recruitment.
The Learning Frameworks
The new learning frameworks for childcare were created to provide a national approach to early childhood education and care in Australia. Developed to guide and support educators in providing high-quality learning experiences for children; the frameworks also aim to promote consistency and continuity of learning for children from birth to 12 years of age. This includes those attending early childhood education and care services and outside school hours care services.
Additionally, the frameworks recognize the importance of a child’s development and aim to support and empower families and communities to contribute to their children’s learning and well-being.
NSW Family Day Care presented two webinars one for Educational Leaders ‘Engaging Educators with the Revised Learning Frameworks: A webinar for FDC Educational Leaders’ and for Educators ‘What every Family Day Care educator needs to know in a nutshell’.
